Google Authentication

Overview

After updating to the August release of M-Files (22.8) if you are seeing authentication errors on the mobile app or with the Google Workspace add-in it could be due to a missing default DNS configuration value.

The authentication errors would likely present as 403 errors or "No Vaults Available" when attempting to log in or before you even get a login prompt.

Solution

As a workaround, look at the server-side registry settings and confirm if this key exists:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motive\M-Files\<version>\Server\Common
Value name: VaultDNSConfig
Value type: REG_SZ (String Value)

If it doesn't exist, then create VaultDNSConfig as a string value and you can leave the value blank as it just needs the key to exist. Then retry the connections.
