License decoding failed or License was not accepted error

Overview

When I attempt to install a license file for an add on, I see a "License decoding failed" or "License was not accepted" even though my Account Manager provided me with the license file and M-Files Server key together (matching). What do I do?

Solution

Perform this action from the machine that you are attempting to install the license.
  1. Under Group Policy Editor, locate the following and remove the defined setting:
    Computer Configuration >> Windows Settings >> Security Settings >> Local Policies >> Security Options >> "System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing".
  2. Set the setting to "Disabled"
  3. Reboot the machine.
  4. Download a new copy of the license and attempt to install it once again.
 
*If the above fails, please ensure that the firewall and antivirus programs do not interfere during the application of the license.
