Overview

In M-Files, a document collection is a set of related documents called document collection members. In some cases, it has raised questions when a document collection has relationships both to "Collection members" and to "Documents", as in the image below. What does this mean?

Explanation

Any documents in M-Files can have relationships with each other. Also, document collections can have "regular" relationships with other documents. On the other hand, the specific feature of document collections is the collection members, which are the documents added to the document collection and thus belong to it.
In the above example, the document collection has five members. In addition, there are two regular relationships with other documents. The regular relationships and collection members are different concepts; only collection members are specific to the document collections. Hence, there is nothing abnormal in this situation, but users should be careful not to create only regular relationships if they intend to add members to a document collection.
