Overview
When trying to upgrade M-Files the upgrade fails during the Desktop Client upgrade with an error message that there are insufficient system resources to complete the requested service.
This can be due to there being too many registry entries under the M-Files registry tree at the following locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Motive
And / or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Motive
Solution
Remove / clean up the two portions of the tree to trim them down. Remove out of date information like old vault connections, etc.
After the cleanup, the upgrade should work as intended. If there are still issues, please contact Support via the Support Portal.
