Overview

To run properly, M-Files needs certain version or greater of Microsoft .NET Framework software component installed in a computer running M-Files. Currently minimum .NET Framework version required is 4.7.2.

Solution

The installed .NET Framework version can be checked from the Windows registry. Run Registry Editor and look for a following value.
KeyHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full

Value nameRelease
Value typeREG_DWORD
DescriptionRelease number

Following numbers correspond .NET Framework version 4.7.2:
  • On Windows 10 April 2018 Update and Windows Server, version 1803: 461808
  • On all Windows operating systems other than Windows 10 April 2018 Update and Windows Server, version 1803: 461814
For M-Files, this value must be the above number or greater.
If the Full subkey is missing, then .NET Framework 4.5 or above is not installed.
