Overview
This document describes the procedure of taking full backup of the IDOL cluster. The full backup includes all program files, configuration, and the index. You can restore the files to the same machine by copying the files back.
If you want to restore the files to a different machine, you must remove the license and uid folders from each subdirectory, to relicense the component.
This article concerns both, IDOL 10.9. and 12.1.x version families.
NOTE:
Data files are platform and engine dependent, so you can restore only to a similarly configured machine.
Solution for M-Files from version 20.5.x and IDOL from version 12.1.
Taking backups
Process
2. Wait until all IDOL indexing queues are empty.
- IDOL indexing queue location in each engine (example): C:\IDOL12\data\PROD1-content-11000\index\status
3. Shut down the whole cluster i.e., all IDOL services.
4. Copy the installation folder and everything inside into safe place. The folder is usually located in C:\[IDOL setup name] .
5. Start the cluster.
6. After the cluster is up and running, start M-Files Indexing Services (MFIndexingManager).

Solution for M-Files version 20.4.x and older and IDOL version 10.9.
Taking backups
Process
2. Copy index log files IndexFLog.log (FileData) and IndexMLog.log (MetaData) to the safe place. They are located in M-Files Servers index folder, usually at C:\Program Files\M-Files\Server Vaults\[vault name]\Indexes\Combined\M-Files.
3. Wait until all IDOL indexing queues are empty.

4. Shut down the whole cluster.
