Overview
This document describes M-Files mobile apps, Android and IOS, and offline usage.
Solution
There are four possible modes for offline documents:
- Marked offline
- Recently used
- Created offline
- Edited offline
Whenever the user opens an item, it ends up in the "Recently used" list for offline use, where the item remains until it is removed from the list because of opening other items. The number of items in that list can be adjusted in the settings, which can be found in the M-Files application under Settings. Other settings affecting offline mode can also be found in the same place.
Whenever the user opens an item, it ends up in the "Recently". If the user marks the object for offline use, then the object remains in the offline view until the user manually removes it from there.
When a user creates an item in offline mode, the item appears in the offline view and can still be edited. The next time the device connects to the M-Files server, all items created and edited offline will be synchronized to the server. After this, the items in question (and changes) are also visible on other devices, and the items in question move to recently used items in the offline view.
