Overview

Network administrators sometimes observe lot of traffic to certain network addresses. This article lists some of the addresses related to M-Files automatic updates to help administrators identify legitimate M-Files related network activity.

Solution

Current service provider of M-Files CDN lists IP addresses they use behind these links:

https://bunnycdn.com/api/system/edgeserverlist
https://bunnycdn.com/api/system/edgeserverlist/Ipv6

For example, if you see traffic to M-Files CDN-address "cdn3.m-files.com", this points to service provider address "mfilescdn3.b-cdn.net", behind which there are several dynamically changing IP addresses.

If following commands are made with Windows Command Prompt, for example, the answer should be one of the addresses listed, for example:

> nslookup cdn3.m-files.com
...
Name:  mfilescdn3.b-cdn.net
Address: 89.187.169.15
Aliases: cdn3.m-files.com

Ping command reply IP-address given here will change dynamically, but are found on the list as well:

>ping cdn3.m-files.com
Pinging mfilescdn3.b-cdn.net [185.59.220.194] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 185.59.220.194: bytes=32 time=51ms TTL=54
>ping cdn3.m-files.com
Pinging mfilescdn3.b-cdn.net [185.59.220.198] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 185.59.220.198: bytes=32 time=48ms TTL=54
>ping cdn3.m-files.com
Pinging mfilescdn3.b-cdn.net [185.59.220.199] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 185.59.220.199: bytes=32 time=52ms TTL=54
