Adding M-Files Office Add-in Certificate for MS Office Programs to Treat it as a Trusted Publisher

Overview

If user is observing following security warning related to M-Files Office add-in when opening Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), there is problem with trusted certificate.
This may occur e.g., if there are some changes in company's certificate policies.

M-Files add-in can be enabled via 1) "Click for more details" - "Advanced options" - and selecting 2) "Enable all code published by this publisher".

However, this is not permanent solution, and the warning will reappear again after closing and starting Office program again.
 

Solution

Issue can be fixed permanently as follows:
  1. Add M-Files certificate via Windows Explorer via right-click and selecting Properties / Digital Signatures to following file: C:\Program Files\M-Files<version>\Bin\x64\Activator.exe
  2. Select Install Certificate via Details - View certificate - Install certificate…:

  1. Select Local Machine in Certificate Import Wizard, which appears:

  1. Place certificate to Trusted Publishers store

  1. Check the added certificate in Control panel - Manage computer certificates from Trusted Publishers / Certificates:

After closing and opening Microsoft Office program, warning should not appear anymore.
Group policy rules can also be used to apply certificate in Trusted publisher store.
