Overview

M-Files allows you to view comments in the activity feed of the object. This support article explains how to add user comments to a separate property on the metadata card of a specific assignment or document, making it easier to review or export comments.

Solution

  1. Compliance Kit - Managed Properties module

Managed Properties module can copy a comment from the built-in Comment property to another property. After a new comment is left, the previous comment is overwritten, so only the latest comment can be maintained on the metadata card with this module. For a rolling comment feed, see the Property Calculator option below.

Note: Compliance Kit requires that the application and a separate license is installed.

  1. Property Calculator

Property Calculator add-on can also be configured to copy the value from the built-in Comment property to a separate property on the metadata card. Unlike Managed Properties, Property Calculator can also maintain a list of rolling comments, preserving previous comments when a new comment is added.
