Overview
Microsoft will end support for Basic Authentication access to Exchange Online on October 1st, 2022, and after that allows only Modern Authentication, which is based upon OAuth 2.0. M-Files already supports this authentication for a mail source from Microsoft Exchange Online, but you must make configuration change in M-Files Admin to use the new authentication method.
Solution
The M-Files April ’21 release has support for the new Microsoft Exchange Online authentication, so you must have this release or newer installed.
To use the new authentication, you need to remove old POP or IMAP4 setting for Microsoft Exchange Online from the External Sources/Mail Sources in M-Files Admin and add new Microsoft Exchange Online Service type. See our user guide how to add a mail source for new connection to Microsoft Exchange Online:
https://www.m-files.com/user-guide/latest/eng/connecting_to_a_new_mail_source.html
NOTE: Removing the old connection and adding a new one pointing to the same service/folder may result in all the emails getting imported again, because the new connection will have a new unique identifier and may not "recognize" the existing objects. If this happens, you can deleted the newly created duplicate objects from the vault, if needed.
