Overview
Many users take advantage of the M-Files Reporting and Data Export feature to provide extracts of objects and other data in the vault to a SQL staging table, which can then be used for analysis with, for example, Microsoft SSRS or Power BI. However, cloud vaults require that M-Files Cloud Support assists in the configuration, as server-level access is required.
Solution
If you are ready to explore reporting, first refer to the User Guide: Reporting and Data Export (m-files.com). Once you understand the concepts and are ready to configure, contact Support and ask for a reporting database to be set up.
Cloud Operations will set up the SQL staging table in secure Azure storage, provide you with the credentials for access, and create an empty data set in the vault. After this, you can configure the data set and choose which objects/properties you want to be exported to the reporting database ("Full control of vault" rights required).
