Email Notifications

Overview

Creating and assigning a new assignment object invokes a notification e-mail to be sent to the assignee. The sender address of that e-mail is the assignment owner.

However, there is also the option to customize this feature to use a pre-set e-mail address. It can be configured via Notification Settings in M-Files Admin as instructed in the User Guide page at https://m-files.com/user-guide/latest/eng/Notifications.html?hl=editing%2Cnotification%2Csettings%2Cm-files%2Cadmin

To take this sender address into use either utilize the vault configuration editor or apply a custom registry setting as described in the following chapter.

Solution

Configure Using Configuration Editor in M-Files Admin

To configure this setting by using the vault Configuration Editor in M-Files Admin go to the Configurations section and browse to "Advanced Vault Settings > Notifications" and set "New Assignment Sender From Settings" to Yes.

For further instructions on the Configuration Editor see https://m-files.com/user-guide/latest/eng/configuring_advanced_vault_settings.html#configuring_advanced_vault_settings

Configure by Applying a Registry Setting

To configure this setting by applying a Windows Registry setting open Regedit and apply the following entry. Note, M-Files Server needs to be restarted for this key to take effect.

Key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motive\M-Files\<version>\Server\MFServer

Value type

Whitelisting E-mail Senders

In problems related to e-mail senders being blocked as spam see these Microsoft articles on whitelisting e-mail senders:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/securitycompliance/prevent-email-from-being-marked-as-spam

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/block-or-allow-junk-email-settings-48c9f6f7-2309-4f95-9a4d-de987e880e46?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

Subsequent tables need to be separated with an empty line using the Table text style.
