Overview
Encrypting files already in the large vault might take too much space because of backup reasons. This document describes how to save space during encryption.
Impacted Products and Versions
M-Files version 23.1 and later.
Solution
You should be able to remove the unnecessary files by running thorough optimization a few times during the encryption. Make sure you don't run this between metadata and filedata backups. The operation needs to be run also after the encryption has finished to clear any remaining .bin files from the filedata area. It is also good to check manually if any .bin files are remaining. There should be none.
