Overview

We have been asked from time to time if storing VBScripts in the vault is permitted in order to retain version and historical change data in the same manner as normal office documents.

Solution

We have not seen any issues in doing this. M-Files treats the VBScript file as any other file object stored in the vault with proper metadata and history/versioning information. The only caveat is that you cannot execute any scripts straight from the vault in the same manner as if it were stored on your local drive. For this, it is best to save a copy from the vault to your local disk prior to execution.
