Overview

Can Firebird database be used from a network drive?

Solution

In order to ensure that the Firebird database is completely locked to the M-Files server hosting the vault connected to that database, the database has to be stored on the local disk of the server computer. Filedata and secondary data (such as, DTSearch indices) can be stored on a network drive, however, for performance reasons, especially the DTSearch indices should be stored on a fast, local disk.
