In M-Files, documents are saved with metadata, not by location.
When you add or create a document to M-Files, a card form called the metadata card opens. Everything in M-Files has a metadata card.
- What the document is (for example, a contract, proposal, or presentation).
- Who or what it relates to (for example a customer or project).
- How it should be managed (for example, is it visible only to managers or if it is part of a workflow.
This metadata helps M-Files organize and find your document later. For more information about the metadata card, see Metadata cards.
