Changing in which client you prefer to open links made with Copy Link

Overview

M-Files has a Copy Link function, which you can use to create a link that can be opened in M-Files Desktop, M-Files Web, and M-Files Mobile clients. The function is included in the M-Files December '22 (22.12) version or newer.

This article shows how you can select which client you prefer to use for opening links and how you can later change this preference.

Solution

When you click a link created by Copy Link function, the link opens to your device's default browser. You can choose from the opened page to which client you want to open the link. Here's an example picture that illustrates it:

If you also select the Save my preference -option, the vault's links will open in the future automatically in your preferred client.

You can later change the preference in the following way.

  • When you open links referring to the vault next time, the links open automatically in your preferred client. At the same time also, a web page opens, which shows the Change by preference option.

  • By clicking the Change my preference -option, you get to choose again in which client you prefer to open links to in the future.
