Overview
This article explains how to set 'Open for editing' or 'Check in immediately' checkbox checked/unchecked as a default when creating new document. It is possible to choose which one option is selected, or neither one.
Solution
Open M-Files Admin tool and go to Advanced Vault Settings -> Configuration -> Client -> Classic Desktop. There is setting Default check-in options -> Documents as pointed in picture below, use that to get behavior you want.
Please note if it seems to not be working. If you have for example current setting as No Selection but as a default Open for editing is always chosen, you must change this value to something else and save settings. Then change it back and save settings. If this does not help, clear local cache from the M-Files desktop Clear Local Cache and Destroy Local Data (site.com) and Logout and Login.
Also, in order to see and change the settings in "Client" section, the "Manage Client Settings Centrally" option needs to be set to "Yes" first.
