Overview

Traditional folders are a way that you share and group files in M-Files. It might be beneficial to change the default permissions for new folders if for example the traditional folders are used only by specific group of users.

Solution

  1. Open M-Files Admin
  2. Connect to vault by expanding it. Expand "Metadata Structure (Flat View)" and choose "Value Lists"image.png
  3. Click "Show Built-in Value lists" and double click "Traditional folders"image.png
  4. You can change the default permissions for new traditional folders from the Drop down menu if you want it set to Internal, or Internal and external users. If the permissions need to be more specific, you can click the three dots next to the drop down menu to get options for user and user group specific options.image.png
