Incoming objects skipped in the import because their target object type could not be determined

Overview

This article provides a solution for such a situation when an import job runs successfully, but nothing is imported to an M-Files document vault because the system cannot determine the target object type. Windows Application event logs of the M-Files Server machine will contain warnings: "Some incoming objects were skipped in the import to the vault <vault name> <vault guid> because their target object type could not be determined."

Solution

The above warning will occur if the system cannot associate the metadata definitions between the vaults, for example, if object type aliases are missing from the source vault. Define common aliases for object types and other metadata definitions in both vaults. See the user guide for further information.
