In this article we describe how to efficiently remove a lot of objects from the vault. We will use replication export to do this.
User guide: Content Replication and Archiving (m-files.com)

Solution

With M-Files Admin log in to the vault you want to remove objects from.
  1. Choose "Content replication and Archiving"
Graphical user interface, text, application Description automatically generated with medium confidence
  1. Choose "One-time Export…"
  1. In "Objects and Files" tab
    1. Check "Export objects and files"
    2. Check "Use a search filter"
    3. Check "Destroy exported objects after export"
    4. Choose "Define" under the "Use a search filter"
Graphical user interface, text, application, email Description automatically generated
  1. Define the search filter that will result in finding the objects that you would like to remove. When defining the search filter, you can use the same filter methods as you can in advanced search with M-Files desktop. It might be a good idea to test that the filter in M-Files desktop client first so you can see that you get the results that you want.
  2. Then you can choose OK
After this the objects that match the Search filter will be destroyed from the vault. You will have the files as an export that you can simply delete.
