M-Files for Teams: Microsoft Azure AD conditional access 2 factor authentication issue

Last updated on 28 June 2021

M-Files for Microsoft Teams

Overview

When using M-Files Teams add-on and Azure Conditional Access, opening M-Files add-on through Microsoft Teams desktop client requires 2FA (Two Factor Authentication)/MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) sign-in even when on trusted workstation (should not promt MFA). When using regular M-Files Desktop the issue does not appear.

You can read more about this issue "Tabs not working after enabling Conditional Access" from Microsoft page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/known-issues/tabs-dont-work-after-enabling-conditional-access

Solution

1.    In Azure AD, select "Security" and select "Conditional Access" and then choose "New policy"
2.    Add only application "M-Files SSO" into it
3.    Set other setting like your general policy
4.    Change Sign-in frequency to XX days, which could be same as your password age policy
