Smart Search: How can I search with just a part of the keyword (wildcards)?

Overview

Note: This section applies to M-Files January '23 Update and later.

Example: You want to find results where the first characters are 12345, but you do not know the last character or characters.

Note: this might also be reported as a difference between result returned in a view (example: with filter Name or Title contains 12345) and a search with 12345.

Solution

Smart Search does not support the use of wild cards, but you can use metadata conditions if there is a specific property value of interest. For example, the value of the Name or title property. Add this metadata condition as a property condition:

A screenshot of a computer AI-generated content may be incorrect.

Please also note that Smart Search finds results with inflected words in many languages.
