Overview
This document explains why the “From” property is not populated when you drag and drop an email from Outlook's “Sent” folder to M-Files using the standard M-Files Microsoft Outlook integration.
Solution
This is the expected behavior of M-Files standard Microsoft Outlook integration when dragging and dropping e-mails from "Sent" folder to M-Files. Dragging and dropping items from the "Sent" folder will not work with the "From" property. The information stored on a .msg file brought to M-Files via drag & drop from "Sent" items does not contain the needed information to set the address. The case differs when a message is taken from "Inbox" as all the information is available. Outlook integration can only access that data which is included in the .msg file, and the available data depends on whether the message was sent or received.
To overcome this limitation, you can use M-Files for Outlook, which is a more advanced integration that can access more data from Outlook. With M-Files for Outlook, the “From” property will be populated correctly when you save an email from the “Sent” folder to M-Files.
