Overview
This document covers how to get an object count in a vault using the M-Files Admin.
Note: This can be extremely slow in large vaults and can take hours.
Solution
Using M-Files Admin:
With M-Files Admin, log in to the vault from which you want to check the number of objects.
- Choose "Content replication and Archiving
- Choose "One-time Export…"
- In the "Objects and Files" tab
- Check "Export objects and files"
- Check "Use a search filter"
- Choose "Define" under "Use a search filter"
- Define the search filter that will result in finding the objects that you would like to count. When defining the search filter, you can use the same filter methods as you can in advanced search with the M-Files desktop. The filter can, of course, be as simple as "Object type is document".
- Choose "Preview," and you will get the object amount shown matching your filter.
Note: There may be a delay until the count is completed and is shown next to the button. The Admin Tool will not respond during this time, which is normal. M-Files Server is still active for other users during this operation.
